Caldwell, ID Parking Rules: Overnight Parking (2026)

Caldwell enforces an overnight parking restriction in its downtown core under City Code 09-07-12 (Downtown Parking Restrictions). It is unlawful for any person without a lawfully issued parking permit to park a vehicle or trailer anywhere within the downtown for any period of time between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. A narrow exception allows a vehicle or trailer to be parked for a period not to exceed thirty (30) minutes for the purposes of loading and/or unloading. The restriction applies both to on-street spaces and to public municipal parking lots within the downtown; those lots otherwise have no daytime time limit but are still subject to the overnight prohibition. With a valid and lawfully issued parking permit, parking in the municipal lots is available 24/7. Overnight permits are obtained through the city's Community Development Department. Outside the Downtown Parking District, Caldwell does not impose a blanket citywide overnight on-street parking ban, though the 48-hour limit on RVs and trailers (09-07-13) and the abandoned-vehicle rules (09-01-11) still apply.
