Under Town Code § 206-4, brush and tree parts an owner or occupant generates on their own property must be tied with string or twine into bundles no longer than 48 inches, no thicker than 12 inches in diameter, and weighing no more than 40 pounds. Major appliances and large household furnishings that cannot fit in a tote or be bundled may only go to the curb on the scheduled pickup day for that area, and residents must give the Sanitation Department at least 24 hours' advance telephone notice before putting out a major appliance.

Owners are solely responsible for dismantling furnishings so they pose no hazard: refrigerator and freezer doors and compressors must be removed, and sofas and chairs must be broken down to no more than 48 inches long and 40 pounds. Section 206-7B confirms the Town collects cut grass, brush and tree parts only when generated on the site where they are placed, whether by residents or commercial contractors; the Town has no obligation to collect debris that originated elsewhere. Construction debris such as dirt, stone, brick, concrete or railroad ties from building work is excluded entirely under § 206-8F and must be hauled away by the owner or contractor, not left for Town pickup.
