Miramar, FL Trash & Recycling: Bulk Item Disposal (2026)

Section 18-27 governs how bulk items reach the curb in Miramar. Residents cannot set Bulk Trash out earlier than seven days before their property's scheduled bulk pickup day, which keeps piles from sitting on the swale for weeks. The category can include up to three cubic yards of Construction and Demolition Debris, but only if the work was permitted through Building, Planning and Zoning; anything beyond that volume, or debris from unpermitted work, does not qualify. The debris has to come from the customer's own ordinary household activity: unpermitted Contractor Generated Waste and Exempt Waste, such as tires, batteries or hazardous materials defined elsewhere in Chapter 18, are excluded outright.

Placement matters as much as content. Bulk Trash has to be stacked neatly for efficient pickup; anything left in a hazardous or disorderly manner is passed over, and the crew will also skip material placed within three feet of vehicles, mailboxes, utility poles, landscaping pavers, storm drains, or anything piled under tree limbs, under utility lines, or leaning against a tree or fence. The section also builds in a storm-season shutoff: bulk collection stops entirely once the city is under a Hurricane Watch or Warning, or after a severe flooding or other natural disaster notice, and the customer becomes responsible for hauling the material back onto the property and securing it until the city lifts the suspension and resumes service.
