Dade City, FL Trash & Recycling: Collection Schedule (2026)

Dade City Code of Ordinances § 74-35(a) requires that every can and container in the city, in both residential neighborhoods and the business and industrial districts, be emptied at least once every four days on the schedule the city or its contract hauler sets, and it makes it unlawful to let garbage or trash pile up on any premises in the city for longer than seven days without arranging for pickup. Section 74-35(b) gives the city manager authority to fix collection days and times for different parts of the city in the interest of health and welfare.

Section 74-36 backs the mandatory-service rule with a collection monopoly: no one but a city employee or an approved franchisee may remove, haul, or dispose of garbage within the city. A developed property that sits vacant for at least 30 days, confirmed by a discontinued city water or sewer account, is exempt from the monthly charge under § 74-38(4). Accounts that go 60 days unpaid are deemed delinquent under § 74-40 and are subject to cancellation of service without further notice, with the customer's deposit forfeited toward the debt.
