Largo, FL Trash & Recycling: Collection Schedule (2026)

Sec. 20-2 makes subscription to city solid waste collection mandatory for all residential, commercial and industrial property inside Largo, and bars an owner, occupant or other person controlling real property from collecting or removing their own solid waste except as the chapter provides. The fact that a property is under construction, occupied, or capable of being occupied is treated as prima facie evidence that it generates solid waste subject to the fee. The owner bears ultimate responsibility for all charges even if the account is opened by a tenant, and unpaid charges become delinquent after 30 days, creating a lien on the property that draws one percent monthly interest and can be foreclosed.

Sec. 20-2(d) sets the minimum service level: single-family detached, duplex and triplex residences (up to three units) must have scheduled automated cart service for every dwelling and accessory dwelling unit. Sec. 76, one city-provided automated cart is collected twice per week, and one automated recycling cart is collected once per week, with all waste in the cart limited to what is generated on the subscribed property. A second cart can be added for an extra monthly charge with a six-month minimum subscription. Commercial and industrial properties instead subscribe to front-load container service of at least two cubic yards collected weekly under Sec. 20-2(d)(3), unless the city approves a shared container or curbside alternative.
