Largo provides curbside recycling for accepted paper, cardboard, metals, and plastics, and residents must keep contaminants out of carts to support Florida's recycling goals.
Largo's curbside recycling program collects paper, cardboard, aluminum and steel cans, glass bottles, and rigid plastics labeled #1 and #2 from residential customers. Materials must be empty, rinsed, and loose in the cart; bagged recyclables, yard waste, food, and electronics are not accepted. Contaminated loads can result in entire loads being landfilled and additional warnings on the household account. Multi-family complexes are encouraged to provide recycling under Florida's 75 percent recycling goal in section 403.7032. Residents should consult the city's accepted-materials list, which is updated periodically as markets change.
Repeated contamination of recycling carts can lead to warning tags, removal of recycling service, code enforcement fines, and reassignment to garbage-only collection.
