Glynn County, GA Trash & Recycling: Dumpster Rules (2026)

Section 2-16-267 requires commercial establishments and multi-family projects to furnish and maintain their own on-site bulk container for collecting household trash, positioned so it doesn't scatter wind-driven debris or create unsightly litter around the property; spillage or overflow is the establishment's job to clean up right away. Companion sections in the same Division 4 fill in placement details: Section 2-16-268 requires loading and unloading areas to carry their own refuse receptacles for loose debris, paper and packaging, with enough containers to keep the area clean at all times.

Section 2-16-269 requires parking-lot receptacles to be weighted or anchored to the ground so they don't spill, makes the lot owner responsible for collecting and storing what accumulates in them, and bars anyone using the lot from dumping, scattering or throwing trash anywhere except in a container. Section 2-16-270 caps construction and demolition sites at no more than four bulk or detachable containers, sized to the scope of the job, requires the site to stay litter-free, and puts cleanup of dirt, mud or debris that spills onto a neighbor's property on the contractor once the job is done.

As with the rest of the solid waste rules, the Code Enforcement Division of Planning and Zoning, the Glynn County Police Department, and designated Public Works and Recreation Department staff investigate complaints and issue citations returnable to Magistrate Court under Section 2-16-248, and Section 2-16-249 makes a violation a misdemeanor punished under Section 2-16-244.
