Cherry Hill, NJ Trash & Recycling: Holiday Pickup Schedule (2026)

Thanksgiving Day is Thursday, November 26, 2026, Christmas Day is Friday, December 25, 2026, and New Year's Day is Friday, January 1, 2027. All three sit on the holiday list in § 19-2.5(a), and the township's Schedule page states that there will be no trash, recycling, or yard waste collected on them. The page prints no year, date or last-updated stamp, so these dates come from the calendar, not from a township notice.

The Schedule page gives three standing rules for the days around a holiday. If your regular collection day falls on a listed holiday, your pickup will take place the day after the holiday. If your regular collection day is the day after a holiday, your pickup day may be delayed. Friday collections will continue into Saturdays if necessary. Under those sentences, a Thursday route on Thanksgiving moves to the day after the holiday, and the route that normally runs that next day is the one the page warns may be delayed. For Christmas Day and New Year's Day, which both land on Fridays this season, the page applies the same day-after sentence and prints no make-up date.

Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11, 2026, is not on either list. Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24, 2026, and New Year's Eve, Thursday, December 31, 2026, are not listed either. Neither source announces a closure for those days, and the Schedule page does not say in words that service is normal on unlisted holidays.

Section 19-2.5 opens by giving the Mayor or designee the authority to establish, alter or amend the schedule for the collection of residential solid waste and recyclables, so the route calendar is set by that office and not by the ordinance text. Recyclables, including yard waste, and solid waste are each collected one time per week under the Township's Solid Waste and Recyclable Collection Contract. The code prints no make-up rule at all and says "Independence Day" where the Schedule page says "July 4th".

Set-out times in § 19-2.5(d) run from the scheduled collection day: containers go out no earlier than 5:30 p.m. the evening before, must be at the collection point before 7:00 a.m. on the day, and empty containers cannot stay longer than 12 hours after the regular collection time. The subsection says nothing specific about holiday weeks.
