Republic Services is the exclusive franchised solid waste, recycling, and organics hauler for Concord under a long-term franchise agreement. Weekly collection is scheduled by neighborhood route; residents receive a service-day calendar from Republic. Carts must be curbside by 6:00 AM on collection day and removed within 24 hours. Holiday weeks typically shift service one day later.
Concord Municipal Code Title 6 (Health and Sanitation) requires all residential and commercial premises to subscribe to refuse collection through the city's franchised hauler. Republic Services holds the exclusive franchise and operates weekly curbside collection of three streams: garbage (gray/black cart), recyclables (blue cart), and organics/yard waste/food scraps (green cart). Routes are assigned by address, and residents can look up their collection day on the Republic Services Concord portal. Carts must be placed at the curb with wheels against the curb, handles facing the home, and at least 3 feet of clearance on each side for the automated truck arm. Set-out window is typically from 6:00 PM the evening before through 6:00 AM on collection day, and carts must be retrieved within 24 hours of collection. The six observed holidays (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas) push service one day later for the remainder of that week. Missed pickups can be reported to Republic within 24 hours for a return trip at no charge. Illegally using another address's cart or scavenging recyclables is prohibited under CMC Title 6 and California Public Resources Code Β§41950.
