Gardena's exclusive franchise hauler, WM (Waste Management) effective May 1, 2026, provides weekly residential trash, recycling, and organics collection under Municipal Code Chapter 8.20. Holiday weeks push collection back one day for the rest of the week.
Solid waste collection in Gardena is governed by Municipal Code Chapter 8.20 and provided under an exclusive franchise agreement. Effective May 1, 2026, WM (Waste Management) became the citywide hauler, replacing Waste Resources; residential customers previously served by Waste Resources transition to WM service. WM provides weekly curbside collection of trash, recycling, and organics/green waste. When a holiday falls on a weekday, collection for the rest of that week is delayed by one day. Residents may request a bulky item pickup through WM. Contact WM at (310) 366-7600 or Public Works at (310) 217-9568 for missed pickups or service questions. Do not use unlicensed haulers, as collection within the City is exclusive to the franchisee.
Using a hauler other than the exclusive franchisee for regular collection violates the franchise established under GMC Chapter 8.20.
