Recology collects garbage, recycling, and yard/food waste weekly in Redmond. Carts must be out by 7 AM on collection day and retrieved within 24 hours per RMC Title 9.
Solid waste collection in Redmond is provided by Recology through a franchise agreement with the City of Redmond under RMC Title 9. Residential customers receive weekly collection of garbage, commingled recyclables (paper, cardboard, metal cans, glass bottles, and most rigid plastics #1-7), yard waste, and food scraps. Collection days are assigned by neighborhood: Monday through Friday with no weekend service for standard routes. Containers must be placed at the curb or designated collection point by 7:00 AM on the scheduled pickup day and may not be placed out before 6:00 PM the evening before collection. Empty containers must be removed from the public right-of-way and returned to their storage location within 24 hours of collection. Holiday collection schedules shift by one day following observed holidays (New Year, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas). Extra bags of garbage beyond the cart capacity require purchase of pre-paid extra refuse stickers from Recology.
Late container placement or failure to retrieve containers within 24 hours: warning notice, then civil fine up to $100 per occurrence under RMC 9.04.
