Republic Services is Rentons contracted solid waste hauler. Residents receive weekly garbage pickup with carts set out by 7 AM on collection day and removed within 24 hours after service.
Renton contracts with Republic Services for residential garbage, recycling, and yard waste collection throughout the city. Weekly garbage service is required for all single-family homes under RMC Chapter 8-1 Solid Waste Utility, with recycling and yard waste included in the utility bill. Residents choose from cart sizes of 20, 35, 64, or 96 gallons with rates varying accordingly. Carts must be placed curbside by 7:00 AM on the scheduled collection day, with at least three feet of clearance from other carts, mailboxes, and obstacles. Carts must be removed from the curb within 24 hours after collection or by the end of the collection day per code. Holiday collection schedules shift service by one day when holidays fall on weekdays. Missed pickups should be reported to Republic Services within 24-48 hours. Extra garbage bags beyond cart capacity require purchase of overflow stickers. Multi-family and commercial properties use dumpster service with schedules arranged directly with Republic.
