Salt Lake City Waste and Recycling Division collects trash, recycling, and compost weekly on a zone-based schedule; bins must be curbside by 7 a.m. on collection day.
Chapter 9.08 of the city code governs solid waste collection. Residents must place carts at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on their scheduled collection day and remove them within 24 hours after collection. Salt Lake City provides black (trash), blue (recycling), and brown (compost) carts to single-family homes and small multi-unit buildings.
