Under Chapter 9.08 of the city code and Waste and Recycling Division rules, carts must be placed with wheels and handles facing the residence and at least 3 feet of clearance from other carts, mailboxes, parked cars, and utility poles so automated trucks can service them. Carts should not be placed in the street or block sidewalks or ADA ramps. Between collections, carts must be stored out of public view from the front street, typically in a side yard, garage, or behind a fence. Violations may result in warning notices and fines.
