Full Breakdown

City Code § 57.020 requires every dwelling and occupied building to have licensed commercial garbage service that collects trash at least once a week and required recyclables at least twice a month. Containers must be placed at the curb, not in the roadway or on the sidewalk. Under § 57.023(c), residents cannot drag bins out before noon the day before their scheduled collection day, and containers must come back in by 11 p.m. on collection day or within two hours of actual pickup, whichever is later.

Violations & Fines

Early or late-set containers, missing required weekly garbage or twice-monthly recycling service, and other violations of this chapter fall under the city's general penalty: up to a $500 fine or 30 days in jail, with each day a separate offense (§ 10.999).
