Full Breakdown

City code requires every dwelling unit and occupied building to carry commercial garbage service from a licensed hauler, picking up required recyclables, paper, cardboard, plastics #1 and #2, newspaper, electronics, magazines, bulk-rate mail, and aluminum/tin/steel cans, at least twice each month. Owners and managers must provide a separate, rigid recycling container plainly marked for single-stream recycling, and rental property owners must subscribe to and pay for the recycling service unless a written lease shifts that duty to the tenant.

Violations & Fines

Dumping required recyclables at the sanitary landfill or mixing garbage into a recycling receptacle (or vice versa) is prohibited; littering and improper disposal offenses carry the general penalty under § 10.999.
