Naperville operates a single-stream curbside recycling program through Groot Industries. A City of Naperville recycling cart is required to participate. Accepted materials include aluminum cans, foil, and trays; glass bottles and jars; plastic containers numbered 1-5 and 7 (not #6); tin and steel cans; corrugated cardboard; paper products; and milk cartons. All containers should be rinsed but labels need not be removed. Items must be placed loosely in the cart, not in plastic bags. Contaminants include plastic bags, styrofoam, lithium batteries, electronics, medical waste, shredded paper, food, and diapers. Contaminated recycling loads may not be collected. Mixed paper may go in a separate bin or paper bag. Contact Groot at (630) 892-9294 or use their Waste Wizard tool for questions.
Contaminated recycling: load may not be collected. Repeated contamination: notification from Groot. No specific fines for recycling non-compliance.
