Grand Prairie, TX Trash & Recycling: Yard Waste Collection (2026)

Section 26-105 of the Grand Prairie Code of Ordinances draws a hard line between grass clippings and brush: grass clippings will not be collected or removed from premises as a regular service, though the city may still remove them as part of a code enforcement action against a property. Brush, defined in section 26-100 as tree and shrub trimmings not able to fit in an approved container, and other yard trimmings other than grass clippings, may be collected and removed by the city or its contractor.

Section 26-112 sets the mechanical rules for putting brush and other oversized trash at the curb. Material that cannot fit in an approved container must be placed in bundles or disposable containers no more than four feet wide, and placed for collection under the general standards in section 26-101. Brush specifically must be cut to no more than six feet in length, trimmed, and stacked at curbside or alley to a height of no more than three feet, with the larger cut ends facing the curb or alley.

Vines and thorny bushes must go into disposable containers rather than loose bundles. No bundle, container or other item may weigh more than 50 pounds, and the city caps collection at one cubic yard of brush per scheduled pickup day, meaning larger cleanup jobs require multiple pickup days or a private hauler.
