Under Ordinance Code Sec. 380.206, yard trash other than tree trimmings has to be placed in a garbage receptacle or disposal box: the collection service isn't required to pick up loose yard trash left uncontained. Tree trimmings longer than five feet or thicker than six inches in diameter are also excluded, as is anything generated by a tree surgeon or commercial tree service, which the property owner must arrange to have removed separately. Loose trash collection is capped at five cubic yards per week per property. The Director of Solid Waste and Resource Management can suspend the section's limits in a City area declared a disaster area.
Violations & Fines
Yard trash set out loose (not bagged/boxed) or over the 5-cubic-yard weekly cap can simply be left uncollected by the crew; oversized tree trimmings and tree-service debris are never picked up curbside and must be hauled by the property owner or contractor.
