Kirkwood, MO Trash & Recycling: Yard Waste Collection (2026)

Kirkwood Code of Ordinances § 10-28(1) creates the city's yard waste bag pickup program, defined as the collection of certain degradable kraft paper bags obtained exclusively for yard waste disposal. Residents must use the City-purchased bags for this service, at a fee set by the latest City Council-adopted fee schedule that covers the cost of the bag, its pickup, and its disposal. As an alternative to buying the special bag, a resident can buy a City yard waste sticker, also at the Council-adopted fee, and permanently affix it to a degradable kraft paper yard waste bag before it goes out for pickup; the sticker fee covers pickup and disposal of one thirty-gallon bag.

Section 10-27(5) confirms that regular garbage and rubbish collection under the basic weekly service specifically excludes yard waste, along with tires, major appliances, lead acid batteries, and other hazardous or landfill-restricted items under Chapter 260, RSMo. Beyond the bag program, § 10-28(2) lets the Sanitation Division provide curbside pickup of large bulky items for a separate fee, and § 10-28(3) allows a commercial dumpster by special arrangement for excessively large amounts of waste, including construction waste.
