Code Section 17-4 defines vegetative waste as matter from yard and landscaping maintenance, including tree and shrub materials, grass clippings, palm fronds, and tree branches. Grass clippings, leaves, pine needles, and similar loose items must be bagged or containerized before they go out for collection. Every other piece of vegetative waste, aside from palm fronds, cannot exceed six feet in length or weigh more than 50 pounds, and must be placed neatly at the curb. Natural Christmas trees are collected as vegetative waste but each cut section is capped at eight feet in length and must stay under 50 pounds.

Section 13-3(B)(4) sets the timing: vegetative waste and bulk trash can be placed at the curb no earlier than 24 hours before the scheduled pickup, a shorter window than the 6:00 p.m.-the-night-before rule that applies to garbage cans and recycling containers under Section 13-3(B)(2). Materials must sit on the originating property's curb frontage only, directly in front of the property that generated it, and cannot block the roadway or right-of-way. Section 13-3(D) adds a storm-season rule: all pre-storm vegetation trimming must be finished by April 30 each year, and once any part of Wellington is placed under a hurricane or tropical storm watch or warning, vegetative waste cannot be left at the curb on a non-collection day or allowed to accumulate, and owners become responsible for securing it themselves once collection service stops.
