Irving's Unified Development Code sets standards for detached accessory buildings. There is no maximum square footage for detached accessory buildings on lots of 1/2 acre or greater. A building permit is required for shed construction. Sheds must comply with setback requirements for the applicable zoning district. Sheds cannot be built on easements. The structure must meet building code requirements for the International Residential Code as adopted by Irving. Pre-fabricated sheds may still require a permit depending on size and installation method.
