All dogs in Mountain View public spaces must be on a leash no longer than six feet unless in a designated off-leash park, with Shoreline Park featuring a dedicated dog area.
Mountain View City Code Chapter 5 requires all dogs to be on a leash not exceeding six feet in length while on public streets, sidewalks, parks, and other public spaces. Off-leash use is permitted only in designated dog parks including Shoreline Dog Park near Shoreline Lake. Dogs must remain under control and owners must carry waste bags. Violations carry citations starting at around 75 dollars for first offenses. SVACA officers and Mountain View Park Rangers enforce these rules. Trails in Stevens Creek Corridor and along the Bay Trail require leashes at all times. Special rules apply at Shoreline Amphitheatre events where dogs are generally not permitted.
