Parker, CO Animal Ordinances: Exotic Pets (2026)

Section 9.05.030(a) makes it unlawful to own, possess, harbor, sell or otherwise traffic in ten listed categories of species or hybrids within the Town: venomous animals other than tarantulas, poison dart frogs and specified scorpions; nonhuman primates; any feline species other than the ordinary domesticated house cat; any species of bear; marsupials, squirrels, raccoons, porcupines, skunks and badgers, except ferrets, sugar gliders and short-tailed opossums; foxes, wolves, coyotes and other non-domesticated canines; crocodilians other than the dwarf caiman; African rock pythons and anacondas; Komodo dragon and crocodile monitors; and most scorpions.

Burmese and reticulated pythons over six feet long are also barred, though Burmese and reticulated pythons under six feet, along with bees, fall outside the ban. Subsection (b) exempts licensed wildlife rehabilitators or persons the Animal Welfare Officer authorizes in writing, and gives owners who already held a listed animal before the Section's effective date one year to relocate it outside Town limits. Section 9.04.080 lets an owner post a bond to delay disposition of a seized exotic animal pending a court determination.
