Woodland, CA Animal Ordinances: Veterinary Clinic Zoning (2026)

Section 17.84.080.G sets the siting standard for veterinary and commercial animal-care uses everywhere in the City: animal hospitals, veterinarian hospitals, commercial animal boarding operations and pet day cares cannot locate closer than 150 feet to any residential district or to a restaurant, hotel or motel, regardless of which zoning district the use itself sits in. The operator must also show that adequate measures and controls are in place to prevent offensive noise and odor from reaching those nearby uses, and the section flatly bars incinerating refuse anywhere on the premises.

This standard sits alongside a related but distinct rule for kennels and stables in subsection F, which keeps those uses at least 200 feet from any property line, requires adequate vehicle ingress and egress, and requires the proponent to show that odor, dust, noise and drainage will not become a nuisance to adjoining property. Both provisions apply in addition to whatever base-zone use permit requirement governs the specific district, and both are administered by the Community Development Department as part of the site plan and permit review for the use.
