Full Breakdown
L. 1975, c. C. 5:23. The fee schedule at § 107-3F prices ordinary plumbing fixtures and appliances at $15 per fixture connected to the plumbing system. A separate $85 tier applies to specified special devices: grease traps, oil separators, water-cooled air-conditioning units, refrigeration units, utility service connections, steam boilers, hot-water boilers (excluding those used only for domestic water heating), active solar systems, sewer pumps, interceptors and fuel oil piping. Backflow preventers are split by size, $85 for test parts one inch or larger, $15 for under one inch, gas piping is $85 (except gas appliances, stoves, water heaters, dryers and wall ovens, which stay at $15), and gas service entrances carry no fee at all (§ 107-3F(2)).
Cross-connection and backflow-preventer devices subject to annual testing carry a further $58 inspection fee each (§ 107-3J). As with every permit in this chapter, the fee must be paid before the permit is issued, and the minimum basic construction fee for any covered trade, including plumbing, is $58 (§ 107-3B, E).
Violations & Fines
Plumbing work performed without a permit issued through the Plumbing Subcode Official, or without paying the fixture-based fee under § 107-3F before the permit is released, is subject to enforcement by the Division of Code Enforcement, including required correction and re-inspection, and to the general penalty provision in Chapter 1, Article II that applies to violations of the city code.
