Under Article V of Chapter 10, it is unlawful to operate an adult bookstore, adult video store, adult cabaret, adult motion picture theater, semi-nude model studio, or sexual device shop in the City of Kenner without a valid sexually oriented business license (Sec. 10-123). Applicants file in person with the director of the inspections and code enforcement department, submit a notarized application, a sketch of the premises, and a National Criminal Background Check on every employee (Sec. 10-123). The director must issue or deny the license within 20 days, and can refuse it if the business fails the interior configuration standards or the locational requirements found elsewhere in the Kenner City Code, or if an owner has a disqualifying conviction (Sec.

10-124). The initial license fee is $100.00 and annual renewal is $50.00 (Sec. 10-125). Businesses may not stay open between 12:00 midnight and 6:00 a.m., though a licensed alcohol seller may remain open for drink sales alone during those hours (Sec. 10-131).
