Section 12.14(a)(12) of Kenner's Unified Development Code lists the personal services and trades the city considers inappropriate for a home occupation, and 'auto servicing or rebuilding and repair for others' sits at item (d) on that list. The prohibition sweeps in repair work performed for other people, not just commercial-scale rebuilding, so a resident cannot turn a driveway or garage into a repair shop that serves paying customers, even on a small scale. The same subsection bars several other trades a resident might otherwise want to run from home, including cosmetology, barbershops, beauty parlors, kennels and dog grooming, real estate and insurance offices, radio, television and appliance repair, cabinet making, boat building for others, and contractor's offices.

Because these uses are named as categorically inappropriate rather than merely restricted, the Department of Inspections and Code Enforcement has no discretion to weigh a specific applicant's circumstances the way it might for a use that is not on the excluded list; an application to operate an auto repair business from a Kenner residence does not qualify as a home occupation at all under Section 12.14(a) and cannot receive a home occupation permit or the resulting occupational license.
