Full Breakdown

The chief of police investigates every applicant, including a background check, employee interviews, and an on-site inspection of the premises, before approving or denying the application. Approved establishments may operate only between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., must display a 'licensed massage therapist' sign with 3-inch letters, and cannot advertise on a pornographic or escort service website. A revoked license bars the operator from reapplying for 12 months.

Violations & Fines

Operating without all three required licenses violates § 8-183; violations are misdemeanors under Ala. Code § 11-45-9, and the city may also suspend or revoke the business license under § 8-37.
