Historic-Cultural Monuments
Wicomico County designates Historic Preservation (HP) Overlay Districts under § 225-44 to protect structures and sites of cultural, archeological, social, economic, political, architectural or historical significance. A seven-member Historic District Commission reviews any exterior change, demolition or new construction within a designated district, and no building permit can issue until the Commission's certificate of approval is filed.
