AMC Section 7.12.030 makes it unlawful for any minor to be present or remain in or upon any public place, vacant lot, or business establishment between 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM. Exceptions include: minor accompanied by a parent or acting at parent's direction; minor on sidewalk in front of own dwelling or adjacent dwelling; minor engaged in employment or traveling to/from work by direct route; minor going to or from educational, recreational, charitable, cultural, religious, or other expressive activity supervised by an adult on behalf of a nonprofit, educational, or government organization; and minor in a vehicle engaged in interstate travel. Parents who knowingly allow curfew violations may also be cited. The ordinance applies to all minors under 18 years of age.
Minor cited and returned to parent/guardian. Parents may face citation for knowingly allowing violation. Repeat violations may escalate to misdemeanor charges.
