Garden Grove, CA Curfew Laws: Juvenile Curfew (2026)

Garden Grove Municipal Code Chapter 9.08 establishes a juvenile curfew to reduce juvenile crime and victimization. Minors under 18 are prohibited from being in any public place, street, sidewalk, or establishment during curfew hours: 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM Sunday through Thursday nights, and 11:00 PM to 6:00 AM on Friday and Saturday nights. Exceptions include minors accompanied by a parent, guardian, or other responsible adult authorized by the parent; minors traveling directly to or from employment; minors attending or returning from a school, religious, or civic organization activity; minors on errands for a parent or guardian with written authorization; minors exercising First Amendment rights (with documentation such as protest signs or petitions); and emergencies. Parents and guardians who knowingly allow or fail to prevent their minor from violating curfew may also be cited. The daytime curfew provision prohibits minors of compulsory school age from being in public places during school hours (8:30 AM to 1:30 PM on school days) without a valid excuse, targeting truancy. Law enforcement officers may transport curfew violators to their residence or to the Garden Grove Police Department for parent pickup.
