Garden Grove Municipal Code Chapter 9.36 closes all city parks between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM unless otherwise posted or authorized by the Parks and Recreation Department. No person may remain in any city park during closed hours without a permit for an approved event.
Garden Grove Municipal Code Chapter 9.36 governs the use of city parks and recreation facilities. All city parks are closed to public use from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM unless specific hours are posted at the park entrance or an event permit has been issued by the Parks and Recreation Department. Individual parks may have different posted hours. During closed hours, no person may remain in, loiter in, or enter any city park, playground, or recreation area. Vehicles may not remain in park parking lots during closed hours and may be towed at the owner's expense. Exceptions apply to authorized city events, permitted private events, and organized sports activities with valid facility use permits. The Garden Grove Police Department enforces park curfew through regular patrols. Persons found in parks during closed hours will be asked to leave and may be cited if they refuse. The Parks and Recreation Department manages over 20 parks throughout Garden Grove, including community centers and athletic facilities. Special event permits for after-hours park use may be obtained through the Parks and Recreation Department at (714) 741-5200.
Remaining in a closed park may result in an infraction citation under Municipal Code Chapter 9.36 with fines starting at $100. Refusing to leave when directed by law enforcement may result in trespassing charges under California Penal Code Section 602. Vehicles left in park lots during closed hours may be towed at the owner's expense.
