Shreveport bars anyone under 18 from public property and public businesses between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., with the curfew starting at midnight on Friday and Saturday. Parents and businesses face fines up to $500.
Municipal Code Chapter 50, Article IV sets the curfew. Section 50-201 defines a juvenile as a person who has not attained 18 years of age, a threshold raised by Ordinance No. 143 of 2021, which added 17-year-olds. Section 50-202 makes it unlawful for a juvenile to remain on public property or on the premises of a public business during curfew hours, and makes parents and business owners, operators, and employees liable for knowingly allowing it. Officers may direct the juvenile home, escort them home, or take them to a police juvenile receiving center.
Parents face a fine up to $500.00 for a first violation and not less than $500.00 for later ones; business owners and employees are fined $500.00. No fine may be reduced or suspended.
