Lynwood, CA Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

Lynwood Municipal Code § 10-12(a) makes it unlawful, within the limits of any public park, to do any of three things without first obtaining a special permit from the Recreation and Parks Director: build or kindle a fire outside a provided stove or facility, camp or lodge outside a designated camping area, or remain, stay, or loiter in or about the park between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. the following day. The curfew carries one built-in exception: it does not apply to authorized activities taking place inside the Community Center Building at Memorial Park, so an approved evening program there is not a curfew violation even though it runs past 10:00 p.m.

To get the permit, an applicant must submit a written application to the Recreation and Parks Director under § 10-12(b). If the Director denies the application, or if someone disagrees with a permit that was granted, § 10-12(c) allows an appeal to the Recreation and Parks Commission within 15 days of the Director's decision. The curfew sits within chapter 10's broader park-conduct rules, which separately bar vehicles and loose animals in parks under § 10-2, prohibit smoking and vaping in parks under § 10-13.2, and require a City Council permit to discharge firearms or fireworks under § 10-11.
