Moore, OK Fence Regulations: Height Limits (2026)

Section 311.3.1, titled 'Obstructing view at intersection,' is part of the city's local amendment to the signage section of the 2018 International Property Maintenance Code at Section 8-1112. It caps any sign, incidental landscaping, fencing, lighting, or plant at 3 feet above the elevation of the curb or the crown of the adjacent roadway, whichever is lower, wherever that feature sits on a corner lot adjacent to a street intersection. The restricted area is a visibility triangle measured from the corner where the two roadside lot lines meet: the triangle runs 25 feet along each of the two common property and roadside lot lines from that corner, and the line connecting those two 25-foot points closes the right triangle that must stay clear.

A fence, hedge, or free-standing sign taller than 3 feet inside that triangle blocks a driver's sightline and violates the section regardless of whether it also complies with any other height standard elsewhere in the code. This provision governs sightline obstructions specifically; it does not set the general front, side, or rear yard fence height for residential and commercial lots citywide, which the Land Development Code adopted by reference in Section 12-101 addresses outside this export. Community Development's code officers enforce Section 311.3.1 through the same Property Maintenance Code process as other exterior conditions, classifying a triangle obstruction as a violation under Section 8-1105 and following the notice and correction procedure in Sections 8-1121 through 8-1123 before a citation issues under Section 8-1104.
