Davie, FL Fence Regulations: Permit Requirements (2026)

Fence work in the Town of Davie is permitted as a structural permit through the Building Division (8800 SW 36th Street; 954-797-1111). The official Fence Checklist lists the required submittals: a building permit application; a signed and notarized addendum form by the contractor or owner; a recorded Notice of Commencement if the job exceeds $5,000; an Owner-Builder Disclosure Statement for owner-builder permits; and a copy of property ownership from the Broward County Property Appraiser. Plan submittal requires a signed/sealed survey (or a survey affidavit if the survey is older than two years) and a site plan showing the proposed fence highlighted with dimensions and setbacks. Permit review stops include Planning & Zoning, Structural and Engineering (plus Electrical or Fire/Life Safety where applicable). For pre-cast concrete post-and-panel a Special Inspector form is required, and PVC, metal or aluminum fences require a set of plans signed and sealed by a Florida-licensed architect or engineer; wood and chain-link fences may instead be built per the Building Code. Fences must also meet the design standards of Sec. 12-33(O) and sight-distance rules of Sec. 12-113.
