Full Breakdown

Sec. 15-7(15) of the Davie Code bars modifying a vehicle's exhaust or intake muffler so it emits more noise than when the vehicle was originally manufactured. Sec. 15-7(17) separately declares it a public nuisance to operate a motorcycle, trailbike, minibike or scooter that emits noise exceeding 75 dBA measured from 50 feet, or that unreasonably interferes with the surrounding area, unless Florida Statutes already regulate that vehicle. Sec. 15-7(18)a bars sounding a vehicle horn on a public right-of-way except as a warning of danger. Violations carry a civil citation of up to $500 under Sec. 15-15.

Violations & Fines

Altering a muffler to increase noise, running a motorcycle over 75 dBA at 50 feet, or honking without cause on a public road draws a citation.
