Moore, OK Fire Regulations: Fireworks (2026)

Sec 10-328, carried forward from the 1999 Code's Section 10-329 and rooted in the Prior Code's Sections 9-96 and 9-97, sits in Chapter 10-3, Offenses Against Property, immediately after the section banning unauthorized use of another person's garbage container. The ban covers the full range of fireworks activity: manufacturing, displaying, possessing, using or selling fireworks within the city, not merely discharging them, and it borrows its definition of 'fireworks' directly from Oklahoma's fireworks statute, 68 O.S. § 1621 et seq., rather than writing a separate city definition.

The only exception the section allows is a pyrotechnic or fireworks display conducted under proper control and approved by the city fire code, with the city setting the time, place and manner of the display; a homeowner setting off consumer fireworks in a yard does not fall within that exception. A state law reference printed after the section, 11 O.S. § 22-110, is the statute giving Oklahoma municipalities authority to regulate fireworks locally, which is why Moore can enforce a citywide ban rather than deferring entirely to state law.

The Moore Fire Department and Moore Police Department enforce the section, and the city's Appendix 2 bond schedule lists a $319 bond specifically for discharging fireworks under the section.
