Pasadena prohibits the sale, use, and discharge of fireworks within city limits under the city code. Texas state law (TX Occupations Code Ch. 2154) governs fireworks statewide. Pyrotechnic displays require Fire Marshal inspection and approval.
The sale, use, and discharge of fireworks is prohibited within Pasadena city limits. This is consistent with most incorporated cities in the Houston metro area. Texas state law under Occupations Code Chapter 2154 allows fireworks in unincorporated areas but permits cities to ban them within city limits. Permitted pyrotechnic displays require inspection and approval by the Pasadena Fire Marshal per Sec. 20-1(g)(4)(e). Historical battle reenactments using gunfire and cannons also require a pyrotechnic permit with Fire Marshal inspection. Violations are subject to citation and fines.
Illegal fireworks discharge: fine up to $2,000. State penalties may also apply under TX Occupations Code Ch. 2154.
