The Village of Arlington Heights follows Cook County and Illinois EPA regulations prohibiting open burning of leaves, brush, yard waste, construction debris, and household trash. Recreational fires in approved portable fire pits or chimineas are permitted provided they burn only clean seasoned wood, are attended at all times, and are positioned at least 15 feet from structures. Charcoal and gas grills are allowed for cooking. Burning of landscape waste is prohibited under Illinois law (415 ILCS 5/9).
