West Valley City home occupations cannot display any exterior commercial signage. All advertising of the home address is prohibited. No window signs, yard signs, vehicle signs parked overnight, or illuminated displays permitted under Title 7-6.
West Valley City Code Title 7-6 (home occupations) and Title 11 (Unified Development Ordinance sign regulations) expressly prohibit exterior signage identifying a home-based business. The residence must retain a purely residential appearance. Prohibited: yard signs, window signs facing the street, illuminated signs, sandwich boards, banners, flags with business branding, and commercial vehicle signage visible from the street (vehicles with business signage must be garaged overnight). Interior signs not visible from outside are allowed. Utah Code ยง10-9a-505.5 allows cities to impose 'reasonable' signage limits on home occupations, which WVC interprets as a zero-exterior-sign rule. Online advertising, business cards, and mailing addresses are not regulated.
Written notice with 10-day cure period. Continued noncompliance: $100-$500 per day. Willful violations can trigger home occupation permit revocation.
