The Village of Oak Park regulates tree removal through its forestry and zoning ordinances. Removal of private trees exceeding a specified trunk diameter (typically 6 inches DBH or diameter at breast height) requires a tree removal permit from the Village. Applications are reviewed by the Forestry Division, which evaluates whether the tree is dead, diseased, hazardous, or otherwise qualifies for removal.
