Casa Grande, AZ Noise Ordinances: Amplified Music & Outdoor Sound (2026)

Section 9.24.020(A) of the Casa Grande Municipal Code prohibits operating any sound production or reproduction device, radio, musical instrument, drums, phonograph, television, loudspeaker or sound amplifier in a manner that disturbs the peace, quiet or comfort of a reasonable person of normal sensitivity, except for an authorized parade or gathering participant. Subsection B sets two prima facie violation standards: operating any such device between 10:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. so that it is plainly audible fifty feet or more from the source, or operating a sound amplifier connected to a radio, stereo or compact disc player at any time so that it is plainly audible fifty feet away or causes a person to feel vibration at that distance.

This sits alongside the general noise standard in Section 9.24.010, which lists factors such as noise level, time of day, duration, ambient noise and proximity to sleeping areas that a court may weigh in any noise case. Certain uses, including emergency response, city operations, farm equipment and federally regulated aircraft, are exempt under Section 9.24.050. All Chapter 9.24 violations are treated as civil offenses under Section 9.24.060, and a habitual offender with two or more prior findings of responsibility within 24 months faces criminal penalties instead.
