Construction hours in Indio, CA — sometimes called construction noise rules or contractor work-hour ordinances — set when contractors can run power tools, hammers, and heavy equipment.
Indio Municipal Code Section 95C.08(B) limits construction tools/machinery, loading/unloading, and powered model vehicles to set daytime hours that change between Pacific Standard and Daylight Time. In summer (PDT) construction may run weekdays 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.; Saturdays start at 7:00 a.m.; Sundays and government holidays are 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
The City of Indio sets its own construction-noise hours in Indio Municipal Code Section 95C.08(B) — this is a city rule, not Riverside County's. It is unlawful to operate construction tools and machinery, conduct loading/unloading of vehicles, run forklifts or cranes within 1,000 feet of a residence, or operate powered model vehicles/planes outside the permitted hours. Unusually, Indio sets DIFFERENT hours for Pacific Standard Time (winter) and Pacific Daylight Time (summer). Under Pacific Standard Time: Monday–Friday 7:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.; Saturday 8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.; Sunday 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; government holidays 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Under Pacific Daylight Time: Monday–Friday 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.; Saturday 7:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.; Sunday 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; government holidays 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. The 1,000-foot crane/forklift trigger can be reduced by the Planning Commission through design review or a conditional use permit. Minor residential maintenance or property improvement is treated separately under the Section 95C.09(J) exemption, which allows such work 7:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. any day except Sunday, when it is limited to 10:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. Public-works, emergency, and utility work is exempt under Section 95C.09(I).
Construction outside the permitted window is a noise-code violation. Enforcement follows Section 95C.10's graduated process: a written Noise Warning Notice first, then a citation (infraction) for a repeat at the same location within 30 days, with a second-response cost charge of at least $100. Repeat convictions can be charged as a misdemeanor.
