The City of Indio specifically prohibits parking or storing any commercial vehicle on property zoned for residential use. The city's curb-marking rules also limit commercial loading at yellow curbs to five minutes. These are Indio city rules, distinct from Riverside County's standards.
Indio's vehicle-parking code contains an express ban on commercial vehicles in residential neighborhoods: it is unlawful to park or store any commercial vehicle on property that is zoned for residential use. This applies to the parcel itself, so a delivery truck, box truck, or other commercial vehicle cannot be regularly parked or stored at a home in a residentially zoned area. On the street and at commercial loading curbs, Indio Municipal Code Section 71.16 governs: a yellow curb limits noncommercial vehicles to five minutes (and is the designated commercial loading color in many California codes), and the driver may not leave the vehicle unattended; a white curb is restricted to passenger loading not exceeding five minutes. Commercial vehicles on public streets remain subject to the California Vehicle Code, including weight-limit signs and posted truck routes. Section 71.08 also prohibits leaving any vehicle in an area that is not a driveway, parking lot, or approved parking surface, and bars street repair of vehicles. Because the residential-zone prohibition is tied to zoning rather than vehicle weight, the cleanest way to confirm whether a particular truck or trailer is allowed at a given address is to check the parcel's zoning with Indio Community Development. Violations are handled through Indio Police Department Code Enforcement.
Parking or storing a commercial vehicle on residentially zoned property is unlawful under the Indio Municipal Code and is enforced by Indio PD Code Enforcement through notice, citation, and abatement. Overstaying a yellow commercial-loading curb (5 minutes) or leaving the vehicle unattended is citable under Section 71.16.
