Inglewood Construction Hours Rules (2026): What You Need to Know

Under Inglewood's noise ordinance, it is unlawful for any person within a residential zone, or within a radius of 500 feet therefrom, to operate equipment or perform any outside construction or repair work on buildings, structures, or projects between the hours of 8:00 PM and 7:00 AM if the work causes discomfort or annoyance to a reasonable person residing in the area. This includes pile drivers, pneumatic hammers, derricks, excavation or earth-moving equipment, and other construction equipment.

A special permit for after-hours construction may be obtained from the Permits and Licenses Committee, though these are granted only for documented necessity. The ordinance specifically exempts construction within the sports and entertainment zone of the Hollywood Park Specific Plan area, which includes the SoFi Stadium site.

With major development projects around the Intuit Dome and continued activity near SoFi Stadium, Inglewood has experienced heightened construction noise. Residents near these areas may encounter construction activity outside typical hours under the specific plan exemptions, but residential areas outside the exemption zones are fully protected by the 7 AM to 8 PM restriction.
