Littleton, CO Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Under Section 9-1-6(B), it is unlawful to park or stand a dump truck, a truck exceeding 16,000 pounds' empty weight, a commercial trailer, semitrailer, or truck tractor anywhere within the city in any residential zone district, unless the vehicle is expeditiously rendering a service, such as a delivery, pickup, or construction activity, at property within 200 feet of where it is parked. Section 9-1-6(C) separately bars an 'oversized vehicle,' defined in subsection (H) as any car, truck, van, recreational vehicle or other motorized vehicle exceeding seven feet in width or twenty-two feet in length, from parking on any residential-district street except while loading or unloading, and even then for no more than 48 hours.

Subsection (A) applies the same commercial-trailer restriction citywide on any public street, highway, road, alley or right of way, not just residential districts, again except an actively-working trailer within 200 feet. The code builds in its own proof rules: a certified state registration copy is prima facie evidence of a vehicle's ownership and empty weight, and a truck bearing its company name, weight, and Public Utilities Commission or Interstate Commerce Commission number is likewise prima facie evidence of ownership and weight. Definitions in subsection (H) tie 'commercial trailer,' 'dump truck,' 'semitrailer,' 'truck,' and 'truck tractor' to their Model Traffic Code sense. The section was last amended by Ordinance 01, Series of 2025, effective March 13, 2025.
