Westfield, IN Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Section 58-270 states the rule in a single sentence: commercial vehicles of one-ton capacity or more, or commercial vehicles more than 20 feet in length, shall not park within residential or business districts on public thoroughfares of the city. The restriction is keyed to the vehicle itself, either its rated capacity or its length, not to how long it sits or whether it is loaded; a qualifying truck is barred from parking on a public street in a residential or business district at any time.

The rule reaches public thoroughfares only: it sits in chapter 58 (Traffic and Vehicles), division 7 (Parking), alongside the loading-zone and stopping-standing provisions, and it does not purport to regulate parking on private property, which the Westfield-Washington Township Unified Development Ordinance handles separately as a zoning matter outside this chapter. Enforcement follows the same framework as the rest of division 7: a Westfield police officer or traffic control officer who finds a qualifying commercial vehicle parked on a restricted street can issue a citation, and, under section 58-215, may have the vehicle towed at the owner's expense if it must be moved to clear traffic.
