Westfield, IN Parking Rules: Loading Zones (2026)

Section 58-266 gives the city council authority, by duly adopted resolution, to fix the location of loading zones citywide and requires the city to place and maintain signs marking each zone and stating the hours the zone's rules are in effect; those specific locations and hours are recorded in division 10 (Figures) of chapter 58. Section 58-267(a) limits use of a marked zone during its posted hours to the expeditious unloading and delivery or pickup and loading of property, and sets a hard cap: in no case shall the stop for loading and unloading of materials exceed 30 minutes.

Section 58-267(b) carves out passenger stops, allowing a driver to stop temporarily in a loading zone to load or unload passengers, provided the stop does not interfere with another vehicle waiting to enter the zone to load or unload property. Outside the posted hours, or on a street with no marked loading zone, the zone-specific 30-minute cap does not apply, though the general stopping and standing rules in section 58-214, such as the driveway and intersection buffers, still govern. Westfield Police enforce loading-zone violations as a stopping, standing or parking offense under section 58-77.
